Tinkoff-Saxo’s Chris Anker Sørensen sits 9th in the GC after the penultimate stage of Tour of Britain, which was concluded in yet another bunch sprint. Michael Mørkøv finished 18th behind stage winner André Greipel. Sunday’s finale in London looks to become a repeat with a flat parcours suited for the fast men of the bunch.

“We moved up a place in the GC with Chris Anker Sørensen, which means that he is 9th now. However, it was due to the fact that Dylan Teuns, who was in front of him in the GC, crashed and had to abandon. Nevertheless, Chris has done a consistent effort, he has raced in a attentive fashion and his shape is on the incline ahead of the next races”, says Nicki Sørensen, sports director of Tinkoff-Saxo.

About the long, 227.1km stage from Fakenham to Ipswich that was won by André Greipel, Nicki Sørensen adds:

“Mørkøv finished 18th. He has showed during the fast stages that he has the power but has lacked the final punch here in Britain. Before the start of the stage, we were considering our options, as there was the possibility of rain and wind. We had some rain, which made for a tense stage, but the wind remained absent. Therefore it was difficult to make a difference in an effort to further Chris Anker’s position in the GC. Tomorrow will most likely be another fast sprinter’s stage and we will see if any opportunities arise”.
