38-year old Nicki Sørensen extended his contract with Tinkoff-Saxo for one more year instead of hanging on the bike, and thus began his preparations for the upcoming season having rather ambitious goals on the back of his mind, including performing well in spring classics and doing the Giro-Vuelta double.
While experienced rider is not going to quit, he has already re-launched his trainings prior to 2014 season, having some serious ambitions concerning the coming year. Sørensen ,the four-time Danish national champion – last time in 2011, already has Grand Tour stage wins in his palmares, including the one claimed at the Vuelta a Espana (2005), and he aims to perform well in spring classics as well as in the three-week races again in 2014.
"In 2014 - he said - I want to ride the classics, a good Giro d’Italia and also perform well at the Vuelta a España. I'm training hard on the road and I also did some jog. Mentally I feel regenerated after spending as much time as it was possible with my family."
