184 kilometers opened the 11th edition of the Eneco Tour on Monday, the riders being presented between boats and water course yesterday in Bolsward in Dutch Friesland before a sprint that made Elia Viviani (SKY) victorious as José Joaquín Rojas (Movistar Team) finished in 9th place.
Focused and clever until the final 1.5km, the Spaniard later had a few problems to keep his position against the late charge from the sprinters' teams. The Cieza-born rider still insisted on getting back and claimed the 16th top-ten finish in his 2015 season.
Andrey Amador got back into racing after a 71-day hiatus and enjoyed sort of a calm day, given the stress always present in races in the North, yet two crashes in the finale threatened to take both him and the other riders directed by Jaimerena and Laguía down. Fortunately, all were unscathed and will start tomorrow on day two - 180.7km around Breda.
