The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) announced today that Jeanné Nell passed away after a crash during the Keirin at a track meeting in Bellville, South Africa.
Nell was a former national champion and one of South Africa's top track cyclists. He was also part of the country's men's sprint team attempting to qualify for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow later this year.
Only 13 months ago, the South African cycling scene was shocked when mountainbiker Burry Stander died in a traffic accident during training.
