Yesterday at the start of the 2nd stage of Tour de l’Eurometropole Team Southeast celebrated the memory of Franco Ballerini. The race was starting from Roubaix and the team car was all in blue in memory of Monsieur Roubaix who left us in February 2010.
Not much happened for the team in the stage that was won by Jonas Vangenechten, with the best rider Mirko Tedeschi in 32nd.
“Today was a quiet day until km 150 when the bunch accelerated because the breakaway got too much of an advantage. The wind and the ups and downs brought us to the back of the peloton, we tried to catch up but there was too much confusion and nobody joined the final sprint. Days like these are very useful because young talents like Mareczko can gain lot of experience," Tedeschi said.
