Despite being known as a sprint, Rudy Barbier (Roubaix) joined the early break in the GP de la Somme.
"We were caught by a group of thirty riders," he told Directvelo. "I stayed with them but before the last climb, I had a probelm with my wheel. I had to stop. I saw from the group ride away, it was over for me. The legs were there but by the time I stopped, there was nothing to do.
"I'm still happy with my day. I was at home. It's a nice day. Quentin [Jauregui] was strong, he deserves his victory. My next big goal is the Tour de Picardie. I'll be at home again. I will skip the 4 Days of Dunkirk to be at my best in the Tour de Picardie."
