Today Southeast officially confirmed that they have signed Movistar sprinter Enrique Sanz. The Spaniard who has spent his entire career at the Spanish team says goodbye to his former employer in an open letter.
"It is time to say goodbye and show my appreciation for a great part of my life," he writes. "Next year I'll change scenery in order to keep growing. I will leave my team after eleven years in my country, Navarra: Movistar Team, Cycling Club Lizarte and Ermitagaña. Instead I will move to Italy to join Team Southeast where I have been given a great opportunity.
"It has been five years of unforgettable memories as a professional rider at Movistar Team. Moments that I shared with fellow teammates, directors, staff, etc. ... I have grown as a rider and as a person.
"Professionally I have matured in five years because I've been surrounded by the best professionals, both on and off the bike, the results support this, and I personally enjoyed the friendship of great people. Despite wearing another jersey, I will always wish the best for Movistar Team, my home.
This would not have been possible without the training I received at Team Lizarte with Manolo Azcona and the Cycling Club Ermitagaña where I enjoyed great moments. I am truly grateful to them.
Finally, I want to thank my family and friends who have always been behind me in the good and the not so good times, without forgetting all the fans of the team and cycling in general."
Sanz is expected to be a lead-out man for Jakub Mareczko and Manuel Belletti in his new team
