The classics specialists join the sprinters and some of the world's most talented time triallists in this week's three-day, four-stage race in Flanders. For some it is a preparation race, but for others it is major chance to take home a highly prestigious stage race victory or to battle some of the world's best sprinters in a furious bunch kick.
Tuesday's first stage will offer the riders a taste of the short, steep climbs which litter the Flemish region and which are the key ingredients in the Tour of Flanders. On Wednesday, we should be ready for an epic battle as weather forecasts indicate that riders will have to tackle strong crosswinds. And the race's final day may offer more of the same in the morning's short road stage while the all-decisive time trial will determine the overall classification in the afternoon.
With the likes of Sylvain Chavanel, Lieuwe Westra and Luke Durbridge ready to fight for the overall GC, Marcel Kittel, Andre Greipel and Mark Cavendish looking to go head to head in the sprints and Peter Sagan and Tom Boonen putting in their final preparations ahead of Sunday's big race, we face a great week of racing.
