Italian teams Bardiani-CSF and Southeast have still not received a professional continental license from the International Cycling Union (UCI). They are now facing the final deadline but managers Roberto Reverberi and Angelo Citracca are optimistic.
Reverberi, manager of Bardiani-CSF, is confident. "There is no problem. Yesterday (Tuesday) were met with the Licensing Commission in Geneva and the matter is resolved. A document on sports management Aster Sport which closed in 2014, was missing", he explains in La Gazzetta dello Sport. "So it has taken time to fix things. But now all is well. Moreover, GM Sport has no economic connection with that company."
The 16 riders for 2016 are Simone Andreetta, Enrico Barbin, Nicola Boem, Manuel Bongiorno, Giulio Ciccone, Sonny Colbrelli, Luca Chirico, Mirco Maestri, Stefano Pirazzi, Lorenzo Rota, Nicola Ruffoni, Paolo Simion, Luca Sterbini, Simone Sterbini, Alessandro Tonelli, Simone Velasco and Edoardo Zardini.
The case of Southeast appears to be more complicated. In recent years, the team has been hit hard by the doping cases of Danilo di Luca, Mauro Santambrogio, Matteo Rabottini and Ramon Carrerero and now faces "some financial irregularities", according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Nevertheless, Citracca remains confident. "There were no errors in the documents which were filed properly. Now we continue to solve the problems that have appeared," he said.
Jakub Mareczko and Manuel Belletti are the main riders in a team that has signed Julen Amézqueta, Cristian Rodríguez and Daniel Martínez.
