Amets Txurruka is still without a team. The Spanish rider is currently on the market following confirmation from Orica-BikeExchange that his contract will not be renewed.

Txurruka tells Ciclismo Internacional that the team prefers to focus on its young Australian talents like Robert Power and Jack Haig rather than on the veteran Basque climber.

"I am convinced that I can return to the highest level," the former Euskaltel rider said. He admitted that he had a difficult season in which "things did not work out" and where he didn’t achieve any personal results because he worked for the team just as he was signed to do.

"I knew why they had signed me and what my task was,” he said. “I did it to the best of my ability, giving 100% in every race. They knew it and they were pleased with it. I do not think there was any misunderstanding. Maybe if I had been more selfish, I would have done better, but this is not how I am or why they hired me. "
