Stölting have announced their line-ups for Tre Valli Varesine and Münsterland Giro.
Tuesday 27 September sees the 96th edition of the Tre Valli Varesine (1.HC) in Lombardy. The race offers a 192.89 km parcours that suits the puncheurs well.
Starting in Saronno, the riders will head out on a loop around Varese before crossing the finish line for the first time after 77.69 km and starting the first of nine laps of a 12.8 km circuit in Varese. The circuit includes the Via Montello climb, averaging 6.5% over just more than a kilometre, and most of the final three kilometres rise slightly as well.
Team Stölting Service Group sends a squad of seven to Italy: Rasmus Guldhammer (DEN) and Fabian Wegmann (GER) will be the most experienced riders in the line-up and also those with the best chances for a result. They will be supported by Moritz Backofen (GER), Alex Kirsch (LUX), Thomas Koep (GER), Sven Reutter (GER) and U23 ITT European champion, Lennard Kämna (GER).
“We should have good weather tomorrow,” said Sports Director Jochen Hahn (GER), looking forward to the race. “It's a demanding race with a very strong peloton. The parcours is a good one for Rasmus and Fabian, and both of them could achieve a good result.”
The Sparkassen Münsterland Giro (1.HC) is traditionally held on 3 October, the Day of German Unity. The race finishing in the bicycle-friendly university city of Münster often comes down to a bunch sprint.
This year, the 215.8 km race starts in Gronau, from here the peloton heads towards the Baumberge around Coesfeld. After two laps of a 82.7 km circuit with three classified climbs the final climb of the Schöppinger Berg crests with 48.6 km to go. In Münster there are three laps of a 5.4 km finishing circuit including 1100 metres of cobblestones on the Prinzipalmarkt before the finish line on the Schlossplatz.
Team Stölting Service Group lines up in Münster with eight German riders: local heroes Linus Gerdemann and Fabian Wegmann can be certain of the public's support, they are joined by Lennard Kämna, Thomas Koep, Sven Reutter, Jonas Tenbrock and the stagiaires Alexander Weifenbach and Willi Willwohl.
Sports Director Jochen Hahn (GER) says: “The team hails from North Rhine-Westphalia, so the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro is a perfect way to end our season. We want to show ourselves to the home crowd. If he makes it to the finish, we can support Willi Willwohl for the sprint; and Fabian Wegmann has achieved several good placings in Münster already, showing he's capable of getting a result here.”
