Katusha delivered a strong collective performance when they put four riders in the 31-rider break that escaped early in today's queen stage of the Tour de Langkawi. Having used his team to keep the group going, Petr Ignatenko finished it off with an excellent 5th place on the final climb to Genting Highlands.

The Russian rider of Katusha Team Petr Ignatenko placed 5th today in the queen mountain stage of Le Tour de Langkawi. The fourth stage of the race started in Subang and finished after 110.9km on the HC climb Genting Highlands (1625 meters above sea level).

"The race was good for us," manager Viacheslav Ekimov said. "Practically from the start a big group of riders went from the peloton, among them 4 riders from the Katusha Team: Petr Ignatenko, Pavel Brutt, Pavel Kochetkov and Marco Haller. The guys worked well for our GC rider Petr Ignatenko during the whole stage, providing him with good support. On the final climb Ignatenko was one of the most active riders, taking 5th place at the finish line."

The stage was won Mirsamad Poorseyedigolakhour from Tabriz Petrochemical. Merhawi Kudus from MTN-Qhubeka, who finished 4 seconds later, was second while Issac Bolivar from UnitedHealthCare completed the podium.

Petr Ignatenko finished 26 seconds behind the winner.

In the general classification, Mirsamad Poorseyedigolakhour is new overall leader, while Petr Ignatenko is 5th, 36 seconds behind.

Tomorrow the 5th stage of the race (Karak – Rembau, 139,9 km) has a climb with only 11 km to go, which can provoke a set of attacks.
