Few teams has had more success at the Tour de France than Team Europcar and the French squads aims at continuing its impressive streak this year. Once again Pierre Rolland and Thomas Voeckler will lead the team with the former targeting another top 10 result on GC and the latter enjoying a free role.

Team Europcar is by far one of the most successful Tour de France team in recent years, having taken top result ever since the car rental company took over main sponsorship prior to the 2011 season. In its first appearance, the team helped Thomas Voeckler take 4th overall and defend the yellow jersey for 10 days while also launching Pierre Rolland on the biggest scene, taking a making stage win on the Alpe d'Huez and bringing home the white jersey for best young rider.

Last year the success was equally impressive as Rolland won another Alpine stage in La Toussuire and finished 8th overall while Voeckler overcame early knee problems to win both an Alpine and Pyrenean stage and take the polka-dot jersey for best climber in the race.

The team had already confirmed that Rolland and Voeckler will once again lead the line-up with the latter telling RMC earlier this week that the youngster would be the team's GC rider while he would enjoy a free role. Voeckler bounced back from a broken collarbone sustained in an Amstel Gold Race crash and another tumble at the Tour of Belgium to win a stage at the Dauphiné and triumph in the queen stage at the Route du Sud on his way to overall victory.

Rolland enjoyed success earlier this year as he won the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe overall in April. He lost his GC hopes at the Dauphiné due to a crash in the first mountain stage and left the race early, citing problems with his Achilles tendon. News broke later that additional testing by the Movement for Credible Cycling carried out on the penultimate day of that race had shown abnormally low cortisol levels, indication either fatigue or the use of corticosteroids. Use of corticosteroids is allowed for riders with a therapeutic use exemption but the rules of the Movement for Credible Cycling - of which Europcar is a member - dictate that Rolland should have been withdrawn from the race and so the team's membership has now been temporarily suspended.

Cyril Gautier and David Veilleux were also confirmed as part of the Tour line-up earlier this month, the latter earning his selection by taking a stage win and wearing the yellow jersey for three days at the Dauphiné. The Canadian told Cyclingnews earlier this week that his only objective is to support his two captains and to finish the race.

The final 5 riders were named today. Yukiya Arashiro has performed splendidly at the Tour of Belgium and the Tour of Luxembourg recently and he impressed team selectors even further yesterday when he won the Japanese road race title. Italian climber Davide Malacarne is set to deliver support for the captains in the mountains.

The team is completed by Jerome Cousin, Kevin Reza and Yohann Gene, the latter having just won a sprint stage at the Route du Sud. On the other hand there was no spots for climbers Christophe Kern and Anthony Charteau or classics specialist Sebastien Turgot or sprint talent Bryan Coquard.

The race starts on Saturday with a road stage in Corsica.
