Having already won the Tour of Denmark time trial, Alexey Lutsenko again proved his skills when he finished 8th in the final Vuelta a Espana stage. Still feeling fresh, the Kazakh is now taking aim at the Worlds and his home race Tour of Almaty.
“Everything still works," Alexey Lutsenko said after the final stage at the 2014 Vuelta a España. "Ater three weeks my legs are as fresh as legs can be…after three weeks."
Lutsenko finished eighth on the day, 18 seconds behind stage winner Adriano Malori of Italy.
Fabio Aru finished safely on a late-evening stage where the young Italian took no risks on the slippery, wet cobblestones, like many of the race leaders. Aru, a two-time stage winner in this year’s Vuelta, finished fifth overall, a remarkable achievement for a 24-year old rider in his second grand tour of the season. In May Aru finished third in the Giro d’Italia.
