The BMC Racing Team will be looking to provide Cadel Evans with good start on his way toward a strong performance when Tirreno-Adriatico begins Wednesday.

A 16.9 km team time trial that opens the seven-day race is an opportunity to immediately lay down the law and dictate matters, BMC Racing Team Assistant Director, Max Sciandri, said.

"The most important thing is to get the team started in the right way in the team time trial," he said. "We certainly have the manpower to do well."

Evans, who finished third in his first stage race of the season (Tour of Oman) and won Tirreno-Adriatico in 2011, said he looks forward to testing himself against a talented field. "Some of the biggest stage racing riders in the world will be there," he said. "Strade Bianche was a good indication for me, though I didn't make the final in the front group. We'll see how the team time trial goes and then we'll take it from there."

The BMC Racing Team will look to Taylor Phinney in both the team time trial and as a potential winner of the final-stage, 9.2 km individual time trial. Phinney was part of the winning team time trial squad at the Tour of Oman and was the silver medallist at last year's UCI world time trial championship. "The course for that last time trial is a great one for him," Sciandri said.
