Etixx - Quick-Step rider Michal Kwiatkowski finished 25th in the conclusive, 38.4km Stage 9 Tour de Suisse ITT on Sunday. He was 2'24" down on stage winner Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Alpecin). Dumoulin finished in 48'36" (47.407km/h), which was 18" than Simon Spilak (Katusha) and 19" faster than Fabian Cancellara (Trek Factory Racing).

Gianluca Brambilla finished the race 23rd overall (+11'09"). Spilak won the overall by 5" over Geraint Thomas (Team Sky) and 19" over Dumoulin.

Zdenek Stybar also finished 38th in the individual time trial (+2'48").

“To be honest: I expected more from this Tour de Suisse," Stybar said. “Normally, these stages should suit me well, but I never found a good rhythm in the legs. I do not think it’s my condition, because the tests and feelings that I had before the start of the tour were good. Maybe I just need some more races.

“Maybe it’s the little stress I have because Ine and I now expact our baby every day. That’s also why I do not know if I will defend my title at the national championship next week.

“The Tour de France? I think we will hear one of the next few days if I’m selected or not. It’s one of my cycling dreams to start there. So I hope it can be already this year. It would be a big honor for me to be there in Utrecht for my first Tour. It would also be my third grand tour.”

On Wednesday he will start in Halle-Ingooigem if his wife has not given birth.
