Zdenek Stybar was set to kick off his off-season with his wedding. Now his crash in yesterday's Kermiscross in Ardooie has put the event under threat.
On Saturday at 11.30, Zdenek Stybar is scheduled to step into the Sint-Antoniuskerk in Essen to marry Ine Vanden Berghe. Now his nasty crash in the Kermiscorss can throw a spanner in the works.
"I hope it can go on as planned. Zdenek will probably need painkillers to get through it," Ine told Het Nieuwsblad. "Zdenek called me yesterday, but told me that I should not come to the hospital in Roeselare which is pretty far away from my home."
Afterwards, the couple will go on their honeymoon.
"It won't be a lot of fun," said team manager Patrick Lefevere. "Stybar will be unable to move as he wants."
On November 30, 2013, Stybar proposed to Ine on the slopes of the Stelvio. This summer, on July 21, they confirmed their marriage in the Czech Republic.
