After three years as an amateur, Tristan Marguet joined the newly formed Team Roth-Skoda and made his contribution to the success of thr Swiss team in 2015. In addition to a few victories at the national level, he was third in the Dutch one-day race Profronde van Noord-Holland (1.2).
"My season was not so bad. I am happy, even if it could have been even better, because I was sick earlier in the season and had to take a long break," Marguet told radsport-news.com.
That he didn't achieve any notable results on the road in the second half of the season on the road, had two reasons. Firstly, Marguet had to take a break during the summer because of dental problems. Secondly, this season phase was also marked by the preparation for the European Track Championships and it paid off. In Grenchen, the 28-year-old won a silver medal in the scratch race. "For me that was the biggest success this season: to finish second in the presence of my family," Marguet commented.
Because of the illness-related breaks in the spring and summer seasons, Marguet not only suffered physically. "It was very difficult for the head to deal with the break and to find the motivation to get back to a top level," he explained.
As a reward for his services, Marguet received a contract extension with Roth-Skoda. In the coming season, the team will fight in the second division and can have a more ambitious program which doesn't scare Marguet. "In 2016 I would like to get good results again and why not win a big race?" he asked.
He can chase his ambitions early in the season. Hence, Marguet aims to be at his best already in his first races - both on the track and on the road. "A start at the Track World Championships in London is also possible," he told radsport-news.com.
