All good stories must come to an end. Such is the case between IAM Cycling and Sylvain Chavanel, whose contract will expire at the end of the season. The multiple time trial champion of France will not be wearing the IAM Cycling jersey in 2016. The French rider, who will race the Vuelta a Espana, told Cyclism’Actu about his goal on the Spanish race and especially his future in the peloton.
"I have contacted Jean-René Bernaudeau a few days ago to inform him that I would love to finish my career at his side. Provided, of course, he found a sponsor. It is all the harm I wish him. So I made him an offer. Jean-René has been hurt, I think. I have not forgotten my professional career began at his side (from 2000 to 2004 in Bonjour and Brioches La Boulangère). Even if I have changed teams thereafter but always remained on good terms. So, yes, if I have to go, I have a preference for either alongside Bernaudeau."
"I have to do a great Vuelta a Espana. We will take stock after the race. I'm focused on this Vuelta. If I had to stop my career at the end of the year, it would be a considered choice, and not wanted by default. The only thing that interests me now is to do a great three-week race. And frankly, I feel very good", he concluded.
