BMC announced last week that prior to the commencements of the Worlds Team Time Trial, on October 8 they would make a “special announcement regarding the future of the BMC Racing Team”. According to Cyclingnews, this will be the announcement that watch company Tag Heur will co-sponsor the team from 2017.
The team is expected to be called BMC-Tag Heur from 2017 onwards. Team owner Andy Rihs and manager Jim Ochowicz will be joined by star rider Richie Porte and 2011 Tour winner and BMC ambassador Cadel Evans to make the announcement.
Tag Heur have previous in cycling, having sponsored 7-Eleven when Ochowicz was a DS there. CEO Jean-Claude Biver is a big cycling fand and his brother Marc organizes the Tour de Suisse.
