After getting the opening time trial of the Tour de France out the way, Andrew Talansky of Cannondale-Garmin is looking ahead to the mountains where he hopes to shine.
“I’m going do the race I’m capable of and take it day by day and look forward to getting in those mountains and showing what I can do,” he said in an interview with VeloNews.
The 26-year-old US time trial champion hasn’t had the best season so far, but says that the Tour is all that matters when he looks back at the end of the year at his results. He urges fans not to worry about his form.
“The results that you get in March or April have no bearing on how you’re going to be in July. Sometimes results in June don’t even have a bearing on how you’re going to be in July,” he said.
