According to Wielerfliets, Team LottoNL-Jumbo was strengthened the roster by signing Brian Bulgac. The 26-year-old rider has put his signature on a one-year contract with the former Belkin team. Since April, Bulgac has been part of Giant-Shimano but his contract wasn't renewed.
Bulgac and LottoNL-Jumbo reached an agreement in late November but Bulgac has already been at a training camp with his new team. "I am happy and grateful for this opportunity," he told Wielerflits from Calpe where he currently is preparing for the new season.
2014 was an eventful year for the Dutchman. At the end of 2013, he had to leave Lotto Belisol after two years with the Belgians. His search for a new professional contract didn't pay off so he was forced to step down to continental level with the Parkhotel Valkenburg team. In April, he announced the surprising news that he had signed with Giant-Shimano. Although he did well, he was informed in late October that his contract would not be renewed.
"I hope not to have such a year again. Sometimes it was a quite nervours. It was very disappointing that I found myself on the street in lat October but I am no quitter. I continued to train hard."
With the signing of Bulgac, LottoNL-Jumbo has 25 riders on the roster. At the presentation of the new sponsors, manager Richard Plugge revealed that he was still looking for young talents. "If we get the chance to sign a talent, we will continue our rejuvenation. But for now, we will sit on our hands like the other teams," he told Wielerflits in October. Eventually he decided to sign 26-year-old Bulgac.
