Team Sky have announced their rosters for an action-packed February calendar that will see all the team's riders get into racing action. Chris Froome will make his debut at the Tour of Oman while Bradley Wiggins will start his season at the Mallorca Challenge.
February sees Team Sky compete in no less than eight races, although the four Spanish “trophies” come together as the Challenge Mallorca series (February 9-12), where riders are able to be rotated across the four days of action. It is here where Wiggins will make his bow along with 11 other team-mates including new signing Sebastian Henao.
Froome will wait until the Tour of Oman (February 18-23) to begin his campaign, and the reigning Tour de France champion will head a formidable eight-man squad which also features debutante Mikel Nieve.
Three from the seven-man squad who took part in the Tour Down Under will make the trip to the Tour of Qatar (February 9-14), with Bernhard Eisel, Luke Rowe and Ian Stannard being joined by the returning Chris Sutton, who was forced to skip his home race in Australia after suffering a small fracture to his wrist at the People’s Choice Classic.
Richie Porte, who bagged Team Sky’s first stage win of the season Down Under, returns to European racing at the Ruta del Sol (February 19-23) alongside Geraint Thomas and Philip Deignan, while Edvald Boasson Hagen, Peter Kennaugh, Vasil Kiryienka and Wiggins round off another strong outfit.
The month culminates at the Tour du Haut Var (February 22-23) and Nathan Earle’s presence in that race means every Team Sky rider will have made an appearance during a hectic period of action.
