The organizers of the Tour du Haut-Var have announced the list of teams that will be at the start of the two-day race in February. Five WorldTour teams will line up at the event but surprisingly there is no room for French team FDJ.
AG2R La Mondiale, BMC Racing Team, IAM Cycling, Lotto-Soudal, Giant-Alpecin and Team Katusha (WorldTour), Bretagne-Séché Environnement, Cofidis, Team Europcar, Androni Giocattoli, CCC Polkowice Sprandi and Wanty-Groupe Gobert (Pro Continental ), Roubaix-Lille Métropole, Team Marseille 13-KTM , Veranclassic-Ekoi and Vérandas Willems (Continental) are the 16 teams that will be at the start of the Tour du Haut-Var (2.1) that will be held over two stages on the 21st and 22nd of February.
The first stage will gor from Cannet des Maures to Seillans and will uncludeseveral climbs, Vidauban (km 20), Bauxties (km 39), Bougnon (km 104, 2nd), Roches Rouges (km 128, 2nd), Mur de Montauroux (km 154) and an uphill finale. The second day will take place in Draguignan where the riders will tackle the climbs Tourtour (km 38 and 68, 2nd), Col de la Grange (km 91 and 124, 1st) and Tulieres (km 179, 1st).
In 2014, Carlos Betancur beat Samuel Dumoulin and Amael Moinard;
Arthur Vichot won in 2013, Jonathan Tiernan Locke in 2012, Thomas Voeckler in 2011 and 2009, Christophe Le Mevel in 2010, Davide Rebellin in 2008 and Filippo Pozzato in 2007. Since 2009, the French race has taken place over two days. Before then, it was a one-day race.
