While Tom Dumoulin will focus on the Giro d'Italia, his compatript and teammate Laurens Ten Dam will do the Tour de France in his first year at Giant-Alpecin. The Dutch climber will support leader Warren Barguil, he announced at the team presentation.

Ten Dam will soon travel to the United States to get  ready for the new cycling season. The first race for the climber is Paris-Nice and his main goal is the Tour. "I can bring my experience and will stay with Warren continue as long as possible on the climbs and thus help him to achieve a good result. I have had a good winter and for the first time in years, I have not been sick," he tells Algemeen Dagblad.

Ten Dam will also be at the start of the Ardennes classics and the Tour of California.
