Niki Terpstra and Yoeri Havik have got the 22nd Sid-Days of Amsterdam off to an excellent start. The two favourites have confirmed their status right from the opening day. The two Dutchmen took the win in the final madison and elevated themselves into first in the overall standings.

After the first day, Leif Lampater and Nick Stöpler are the only riders that are equal on laps with Terpstra and Havik (66 points) but with 52 points, they have scored less than their rivals. Jasper De Buyst and Pim Ligthart did better in that aspect (77 points) but they finished one lap behind in the final madison.

In that race, the danger especially came from Leif Lampater and Nick Stöpler and the Danes Alex Rasmussen and Marc Hester. Both pairs finished equal on laps with the overall leaders but were unable to match the unstoppable Terpstra in the sprint.

However, De Buyst and Ligthart had started Monday better than their rivals. TheY immediately set the tone by winning the first three races. By winning the madison, the elimination race and the time trial, they sent a clear signal. Despite their loss of lap in the final madision, they will definitely play a role this week. Together with Terpstra-Havik, Lampater-Stöper and Rasmussen-Hester, they look like one of the four strongest teams in the race.
