After an unusually exciting week at the Six Days of Rotterdam, Iljo Keisse and Niki Terpstra hae win the race for the third year in a row. The defending champions took the lead on the final day from Jasper de Buyast and Kenny De Ketele when the latter had to withdraw due to illness. Danes Michael Mørkøv and Alex Rasmussen were three laps behind in second while the Spanish madison world champions David Muntaner and Albert Torres took third. Terpstra now has three Rotterdam victories on his palmares while Keisse has won an impressive five times. "With the new features in the program, we seem to have found the right format," said race director Michael Zijlaard. The shorter races, the bigger importance of the points race and the fact that the derny races now form a separate competition have turned it into a beautiful six days.. At the beginning of the final day, Keisse and Terpstra made their intentions clear. They won the Team Elimination and closed the gap to the previous leaders de Buyst and De Ketele. Hugo Haak, Jeffrey Hoogland and Camiel Lok represented the Netherlands during the first three days.
In the Tacx Talent Cup, Hans Pirius and Sebastian Wotschke were superior. The Germans won the race in convincing fashion and earned themselves a spot in the elite feild for the 34th Six Days of Rotterdam.
The 33rd edition of the race had been given a facelift. The organizers had not only changed due to the appointment of Michael Zijlaard and Peter Schep, organizer Ahoy Rotterdam had also given new mometum to the race.
"The sporting aspect is always our priority," Jolanda Jansen, Director of Ahoy, said. "We asked Michael and Peter to take care of that and to find improvements. Furthermore, we have been looking for the ultimate mix of entertainment. Cycling fans should feel at home at a six-day event; the fans and the business partners. Next year the Six Days of Rotterdam will take place one week later. The 34th edition of the event will be held from the 7th to the the 12h of January, 2016 .
