After a successful week-end – during which the team won the mountains classification at both the Tour of Turkey and Vuelta a Asturias, thanks to Juan Pablo Valencia and Rodolfo Torres respectively – Colombia-Coldeportes is ready to embark on a new adventure, which will take the riders to France’s 4 Jours de Dunkerque, a race won in the past by the likes of Jacques Anquetil, Roger De Vlaeminck, Freddy Maertens or Bernard Hinault.

In-form Rodolfo Torres, who is enjoying his best season since turning pro, will try to bring the team’s first victory of the year, but he’ll not be the only shot of Colombia-Coldeportes, which has selected also Leonardo Duque, Cayetano Sarmiento, Camilo Castiblanco, Fabio Duarte, Walter Pedraza, Brayan Ramirez and Miguel Angel Rubiano, former Colombian national champion, for the five-day event that will provide the team with plenty of opportunities to reach its goal.

After a difficult first day, that will bring a mix of climbs and cobbled sections before ending in Orchies, the peloton will go to Maubeuge, a town which will host the finish for the first time in 47 years. Stage three will not have an impact on the overall standings, but it will be an important one nevertheless, as it’s going to honor the victims of World War l. One day later, the peloton will head towards Cassel, a key finish at the previous editions, where it’s very likely to see a great battle between the GC contenders. The race will end in Dunkerque, with the sprinters having a go at the win, after passing 10 times over a 6,9 km-long circuit.
