The Tour de San Luis (January 18-24) will have no less than 29 teams at the start, following the confirmation of another two participants, the Dominican Inteja Continental Cycling Team and Brazil national team.
The San Luis organizers have made a deal with the two American teams Inteja-MMR from the Dominican Republic and Brazil. The latter whill return after a three-year absence. "Right now we are selecting our riders for the race, "said Jose Luiz Vasconcellos, president of the Brazilian Cycling Confederation. "The idea is to bring four young U23 riders and only two elite riders."
The Dominicans from Inteja made their debut last January. Brothers Rafael and Fernando Tejada could not hide their enthusiasm for a new opportunity with their leader Diego Milan. "We are very happy to be at the start of the Tour de San Luis for another year. From here I want to thank the organizers who have made it possible for us to get back."
Just a year ago, Inteja debuted in the Argentinean race. "It was very emotional to show the colors of the first Dominican professional team in the history of cycling at a race like San Luis. Therefore, we will travel to Argentina with great enthusiasm and are now familiar with what we will find. We hope to perform at a high level and get as much as possible. We are a small team but the big ones are not unbeatable," warns Milan.
Inteja has already selected defined its line-up for January, with Diego Milan, Ignacio Sarabia, Fernando Grijalba, Juan José Cueto, Israel Nuño and Joel Garcia.
The Tour de San Luis (2.1) presented the stages for its tenth edition in September, with the novelty of an opeteam time trial and two summit finishes, Cerro El Feint (1,710 meters) and Sierra de los Comechingones (2,140 meters) in the fourth and sixth stages respectively.
