The UCI has refused the requests of the International Riders Union CPA to be represnted in the Equipment Commission, according to a press release from CPA. 

The riders union again goes into the debate about the UCI's decision to allow disc brakes in the professional peloton. According to the CPA, the riders don't have enough of a say. By joining he UCI Equipment Commission which deals with international regulations regarding material, riders want to gain more influence through the CPA.

"The CPA stresses that it is absolutely not an opponent of every technological development in cycling as we have already seen several times," the CPA writes in the press release. "We have several comments and suggestions from riders which they can not share freely as individuals. It is well known that the cycling industry is a major financial partner of the sport, and therefore difficult to go up against."

The UCI said last week that riders have no objection to disc brakes. The CPA denies this assessment, calling it "premature."

The definitive introduction of disc brakes has been up for debate because of concerns over security. In 2016, teams may do tests without any limits to the number of races. The official introduction by the UCI is expected for 2017.
