On the final day, Edward Theuns (Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise) managed to grab a stage victory in the 61st edition of the Four Days of Dunkirk. In the first stage Bryan Coquard was too fast for him. Today on the Boulevard Sainte-Barbe in Dunkirk it was the other way around.
"I am very happy that I was able to finish this stage race with a stage win. Above all, this is a serious boost after a brief period of rest," Theuns told Het Nieuwsblad. "After Paris-Roubaix I was in action in the Amstel Gold Race, but then I went on active rest until the Four Days of Dunkirk.
"I immediately had a good feeling. Good, but not great. I missed some explosiveness, but it makes sense when you are just coming back. Yesterday, I did not really have a bad day. I was just not strong enough. The aim was to isolate Coquard on Mont Cassel and we managed to do so, but then I was suddenly not strong enough and I was the one to get dropped.
