Will Edward Theuns be riding for Trek in 2016? According to a report in Het Nieuwsblad, the Belgian rider will make the transition from the Pro Continental Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise and has signed for two seasons.
The 24-year-old Theuns has had this a breakthrough season with wins in the Ronde van Drenthe and a second place in Dwars door Vlaanderen, Scheldeprijs and Rund um Köln. He is currently leading the Europe Tour.
According to Het Nieuwsblad, he will get a free role at Trek. Only in the great classics he will have to work for Swiss leader Fabian Cancellara who is likely to retire at the end of 2016. In his new team, Thuens will be surrounded by lots of compatriots. Stijn Devolder, Gert Steegmans, Jasper Stuyven and Kristof Vandewalle are already part of the US WorldTour formation.
Reportedly Lotto Soudal had also shown interest in Theuns.
