After leaving the Tour de France because of a viral infection, Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) has decided to not compete in the Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro next month.
Pinot withdrew from the Tour on Friday after dropping to 34th in the GC following the Mont Ventoux stage. Pinot, who started the race with the goal of achieving a podium finish, was never in contention, losing ground in the Pyrenees.
National manager Bernard Bourreau will select the fourth rider who will join Julian Alaphilippe (Etixx-QuickStep), Romain Bardet (AG2R-La Mondiale) and Warren Barguil (Giant-Alpecin).
