Jean-Marc Bideau, 31, suffers from a double fracture to the pelvis after he crashed last Saturday during the Giro dell’Emilia, Italy. A CT scan last Wednesday at CHP Rennes St Grégoire confirmed a complex fracture of the acetabulum with minimal displacement.
This fracture will require surgery. Nonetheless, Bideau will have to observe a complete rest, for a month before physiotherapy and hydrotherapy can start. He will be back on the home trainer in early December but probably not on the road before a period of three months, in mid-January.
Jean-Marc Bideau, which will be part of the Fortuneo Vital Concept in 2016, had already had a break to his activities in 2015 from May to July due to reactivation of contracted mononucleosis from 2009. This had not prevented him from delivering good performances at this end of the season. He was 12th in GP Jef Scherens, 20 th in Coppa Sabatini and offensive in many races.
Two other Bretagne riders, Eduardo Sepulveda and Anthony Delaplace, who crashed in Coppa Agostoni on September 16 are about to resume their cycling activity.
Sepulveda, who suffered from a fibula fracture of the right leg, had radiographic examinations that showed a perfect consolidation. He has been on the home trainer for several days and is about to ride on the road again.
Delaplace, who was suffering from a pelvic fracture, was back on the home trainer early in the week and can do short swimming sessions and muscle building exercises for his upper body.
The two riders will be back in action early in the 2016 season.
