In one of cycling's key countries, the sport gave little satisfaction for the fans. Sportpress has officially announced the candidates for the Sportsman of the Year award and only 3 riders have made it onto the list of 30 nominees. Sven Nys and BMC leaders Philippe Gilbert and Greg Van Avermaet are all in contention for the title. In the women's category, Jolien D'Hoore and Kelly Druyts have been nominated while Thijs Aerts, Wout Van Aert, Otto Vergaerde, Louis Vervaeke and Tim Wellens are on the list among the youngsters.
