Tinkoff-Saxo extends their partnership with Specialized, who has been an integral part of the team since 2009. The renewed partnership, running over the course of the next years, secures the continuing collaboration aimed at further developing the best materials and equipment available.
“I’m very happy to announce that we will continue our relationship with Specialized. With them, I believe that we have the best technical setup possible. We have always worked closely with Specialized to optimize every detail and it shows in the performance of both our bikes and equipment”, says team manager Bjarne Riis and continues:
“It’s important to give our riders the confidence gained from knowing that they have the very best equipment available. Specialized is at the forefront of bike performance and has worked with our staff and riders to design bikes that fulfill the high needs of a World Tour team”, adds Bjarne Riis.
"We’re excited to keep developing our symbiotic relationship with team Tinkoff-Saxo into the future” says Mike Sinyard, founder and chairman of Specialized Bicycle Components. “ We race to win, but we also race to learn. The world class riders and technical staff on the team drive us to create products that will help them win - products like the new 2015 Tarmac, our tires, wheels, helmets, and S-Works shoes. These products provide a tangible performance benefit to the riders on the team, and riders everywhere. It’s going to be a good year."
Tinkoff-Saxo and Specialized have, since 2009, worked closely to develop and test new materials with great success. The new Tarmac and equipment introduced in 2014 is a prime example of how the Tinkoff-Saxo riders offer vital feedback to the technical engineers at Specialized. Tinkoff-Saxo’s captain Alberto Contador has worked with the engineers at Specialized for years and was excited about the news of the continued relationship.
"It's excellent news because Specialized is heavily involved not just with team’s equipment, but our overall performance as well and that’s a big advantage compared to the other brands. I have worked with Specialized for many years now and I am very satisfied with the performance of the equipment. This is undoubtedly the best thing that could have happened”, says captain of Tinkoff-Saxo Alberto Contador.
Specialized will continue to provide the team with the four different bikes used by the team: the Tarmac, Venge, Shiv and Roubaix, as well as helmets, shoes, tires and the acclaimed Roval wheels.
