Having suffered in the hard stage in the Ardennes, Matti Breschel bounced back with another solid ride in the final stage of the Eneco Tour. His Tinkoff-Saxo team is convinced that he is ready for the upcoming challenges.

Matti Breschel went into the Eneco Tour with the target of a stage win and during the 7-day race he got close. In the hard stage that finished on the Muur in Geraardsbergen, he finished fourth and today he finished with the race favourites in the mini Amstel Gold Race stage on the final day.

Yesterday Breschel suffered in the hard stage in the Ardennes which was a bit too much of a climber's race to suit the Dane perfectly. However, his Tinkoff-Saxo team leave the race with confidence that their classics star will perform strongly in his upcoming races.

“We had Petrov in the mix with 19 other riders up the road and Van Keirsbulck was riding tremendously fast after escaping from the front group and the leading teams couldn’t have caught him even if they wanted," sports director Fabrizio Guidi said. "It was a tactical game in the end of day and Matti showed once again that he was able to follow the best of riders here but unfortunately, it didn’t lead to a result today. But he’s ready and motivated for the upcoming challenges."
