Edvald Boasson Hagen was considered one of the most promising riders of his generation, but his progress has completely stalled last two seasons, devoted mainly to fulfilling a domestique duties in the Team Sky outfit. Thus, it came as no surprise that the 27-year old Norwegian was approached by several strong squads as his contract with the British team expires with the end of 2014, and according to the Italian media, he is close to signing contract with Tinkoff-Saxo.
Without giving detailed answers in regards to Boasson Hagen’s possible transfer, rider’s agent Birger Hungerholdt revealed aftenposten.no that they were in contact with several WorldTour squads interested in signing the Norwegian.
Russian team’s owner, Oleg Tinkov, openly ready to sign every valuable rider that is available on the transfer market, admitted earlier this season that Boasson Hagen would be one of the most desired additions to Tinkoff-Saxo line-up for 2015 season. According to Spaziociclismo, the Russian oligarch once again has confirmed his interest in the 27-year old Norwegian, and claimed that the Team-Sky rider would certainly ride for his team next year.
Rumors about Peter Sagan joining Astana for the coming seasons make the deal between Boasson Hagen and Tinkoff-Saxo even more probable, as the Russian squad desperately was desperately looking to strengthen their classics unit.
