Tinkoff-Saxo have lined up at the Eneco Tour with the goal of winning a stage but the team missed out in today's opening stage. Neither Nikolay Trusov nor Matti Breschel managed to sprint to a top 10 finish which left the team slightly disappointed.

Tinkoff-Saxo have no ambitions for the GC in the Eneco Tour but the team hopes to get a stage win during the 7-day race. Their best options come in the harder stages later in the week but the team also hopes to have an impact on the opening sprint stages.

The team lined up for today's first stage with the hope of sprinting to a top 10 result. However, Nikolay Trusov was the team's best rider in 13th which left sports director Fabrizio Guidi slightly disappointed.

“Most importantly, none of our riders crashed," he said. "Riders were crashing everywhere and the wind had a big impact on the entire stage. However, we didn’t get the result we had hoped for as we missed the top 10. But our riders are really motivated and eager to make a good result and our goal is to get a stage win.

"Tomorrow’s stage will probably somewhat similar as today’s and we have to be ready for the sprint with Matti (Breschel) or Nikolay (Trusov) and if a late break is going, we’re aiming to be a part of it.”
