With no sprinter on their roster, Tinkoff-Saxo have had some stressful first few stages in the Tour de Pologne as it has all been about avoiding any time loss for Rafal Majka ahead of the mountain stages. Today the team again safely negotiated a tricky finale and they now just needs to get through one more day before their Polish climber is expected to shine.
Rafal Majka has done nothing to hide his intention of winning his home race, the Tour de Pologne. However, the first part of the race has been all about the sprinters and for the Polish climber it has been a stressful start to the race.
Today he again managed to avoid any trouble and he now just has one more stage to complete before the race hits his preferred terrain.
“It was a very fast stage with an encouraging tailwind throughout the day and our main goal was just like the previous two stages to make sure Rafal was kept in a safe place in the peloton at all times," sports director Tristan Hoffman said. "The boys managed to perfection and we’re ready to take on a very long and probably another sprint stage tomorrow before it goes on in the mountains."
