With no pure sprinter on the roster, Tinkoff-Saxo went into the Vattenfall Cyclassics with a goal of splitting things up. Manuele Boaro and Nicolas Roche both made attacks in the finale but in the end the bunch sprint was unavoidable.

Tinkoff-Saxo started the Vattenfall Cyclassics with Matti Breschel as their leader. With faster sprinters in the race, however, the team wanted to ride aggressively to give the Dane a better chance in a harder race.

Mauele Boaro and Nicolas Roche were both among the attackers in the finale but there efforts were all futile. In the end, a big group sprinted for the win and here Breschel could only manage 19th.

“Let’s be honest, the result wasn’t what we had expected," sports director Fabrizio Guidi said. "However, we were almost alone fighting against the sprinter teams who wanted to control the finale but with the attacks from Manuele (Boaro) and Nico (Roche), we showed that the spirit was in the right place and of course, I’m happy to see that they’re not just content with sitting in the pack."
