Tinkoff-Saxo went into today' Eneco Tour time trial with a defensive mindset. Knowing that they had no specialists on the roster, the team tried to limit its losses and is now focussed on tomorrow's sprint stage.

Tinkoff-Saxo has lined up a versatile roster with several classics riders for the Eneco Tour but the team has to TT specialist. Hence, their only goal for today's 9.6km time trial was to limit their losses.

As expected Nikolai Trusov dropped out of the overall top 10 as he could only manage 97th. The team's best rider was Ivan Rovny who finished the stage in 50th.

“Well, it’s no secret that we’re haven’t got the likes of Dumoulin and Cancellara to win a stage like today’s time trial and we knew that beforehand," sports director Fabrizio Guidi said. "For Nikolay it was all about limiting the losses to stay up there in the GC but he’s now out of the overall top 10. We’re here to get a stage win and tomorrow’s s bigger chance for us on the flat run-in to the finish line so I expect a bunch sprint."
