The media connected with cycling exploded yesterday after it has been suggested in the Slovakian press that an arrival of Peter Sagan to Tinkoff-Saxo would be confirmed this Thursday, but the Russian team, expected to make some major transfer announcements on August 7th and 9th, ruled out such possibility.
"The team will make some announcements on August 7th and 9th but they will not be about Peter Sagan," Tinkoff-Saxo team manager Stefano Feltrin told Cyclingnews.
According to the Slovakian media, Tour de Pologne first-ever visit to Sagan’s home country on Thursday was expected to be used as perfect opportunity to announce a most anticipated transfer of the 2014 season, but the rider won’t be present in Strbskie Pleso, preferring to enjoy his rest period away from cycling.
The 24-year old cyclist will next line-up at the start of the Vuelta a Espana on August 23 and according to Cyclingnews any possible announcements regarding his future won’t be made by this time, but Cannondale rider himself adds fuel to already hot discussion via his Twitter account.
While it is yet to be seen whether the 24-year old Slovak would join Tinkoff-Saxo or Astana for 2015 season, the Russian squad is expected to announce arrivals of another Cannondale rider Ivan Basso and Edvald Boasson Hagen from Team Sky in coming days.
