The decision has been taken that Robert Kiserlovski (Tinkoff) will not take the start line of the sixth stage of the Vuelta a España today after his heavy crash in yesterday’s finale. Following the crash, he suffered strong contusions to his left hip, elbow and shoulder. He underwent further medical examinations and x-rays after the stage finish which showed there were no visible breaks.
However, Kiserlovski is suffering from acute pain in the lumbar-sacral vertebrae, so the decision was taken for him to withdraw from the race and to return home to undergo further exhaustive medical examinations.
It’s an unfortunate situation but the team will keep its fighting spirit and continue to give 100% in the remaining 17 stages with a long way still to go until Madrid.
