During the 2015 season, Michael Gogl showed himself in three diffrent jerseys. "My personal balance is very positive. I managed to improve as a rider in all areas," the Austrian told radsport-news.com.
Gogl started the season with the Felbermayr-Simplon Wels team and for the Austrian Continental team he won the GP Laguna (1.2). He was also seventh in the Istrian Spring Trophy (2.2) and second in a stage of the Rhone Alpes Isere (2.2).
Due to diagreements with Felbermayr, the 22-year-old joined Team Tirol in June and was then fifth in a stage of the Tour of Austria and fourth in the road race at the Austrian Road Championships which was enough for victory in the U23 class. "That was for me one of the highlights," Gogl said about the title.
With his strong performance, he got a spot at a training camp with the Russian WorldTour team Tinkoff-Saxo, for which he did several races from August. Gogl was a strong domestique and he was finally rewarded with a professional contract. "Although I was as a stagiaire at Tinkoff, I was allowed to save myself for the finale in some races and it was a small surprise for me. Furthermore, the team welcomed me in a really great way," the climbing specialist praised his new team.
In the upcoming season, the Austrian mainly wants to prove himself as a domestique for Peter Sagan in the cobbled classics. "I want to be as fit as possible at the starting line so that I can help Peter in the best possible way," Gogl announced. In the second half of the season, he will get more personal chances. "I would like to grab those opportunies and maybe take a victory," he added confidently.
