Peter Sagan still remains the hottest name on the transfer market, and even though some strong indications were given last week that the Slovakian star would ride for Astana from 2015 season, another team with which he has been previously linked, Tinkoff-Saxo, still hope to enrich their already formidable line-up with Cannondale leader.
Invited to the Vive le Velo programme following third Russian squad’s stage victory at the Tour de France, Oleg Tinkov openly admitted that even though Sagan would be a perfect match for his team, they face a stiff competition at the transfer market.
“Peter Sagan is one of the best riders in the peloton these days, but still there are other very good riders. Anyway, everyone would like to have Sagan in his squad. No team manager would say no to him,” Tinkov said.
“So I could try to get him for our team, but there is a lot of competition. With him, our team would have become more complete. We lack someone who could sprint as the classics specialist and climb mountains.”
