Maciej Bodnar finished 10th in the final TT of Tour de Pologne after a demanding race that according to DS Bruno Cenghialta has zapped the three-time national TT champ’s strength.

The concluding time trial won by Marcin Bialoblocki put Ion Izagirre into the final race lead, while Tinkoff-Saxo’s Maciej Bodnar finished 10th. Bruno Cenghialta, team sports director, explains the 25km time trial:

"Maciej Bodnar was very tired today. He gave the best of himself but didn't have the legs to aim for the win. The stage he won and then the two mountain stages took their toll on his daily shape and he wasn't able to race the time-trial in the best form”, says Cenghialta before going into details with the overall result:

“In what regards the Tour de Pologne, it was a very fast race, even for the two mountain stages. We didn't achieve a remarkable result. However, we raced well, the guys were in the attacks and the breakaways but overall, with the exception of Bodnar's stage win, we go home with an average result. Robert Kiserlovski wasn't very strong and grabbed an average position in the GC, while Pawel Poljanski, who on the contrary was in excellent form, fell out of the GC contention after he lost a lot of time in the first mountain stage. In the two hard stages, there were 10-12 riders that proved to be the strongest of the peloton. We were right behind them with Chris-Anker Sorensen but that wasn't sufficient”, finishes Bruno Cenghialta.
