Tom Dumoulin surprised everybody at the Vuelta a Espana. The Giant-Alpecin rider was really close to winning this three-week race and finished 6th overall 3:46 behind the winner Fabio Aru (Astana Pro Team).
According to Cyclingnews, the Dutch cyclist explained he would like to stay with Giant-Alpecin, but his team has to recruit some climbers to help him and Warren Barguil in mountain stages. "The idea is that we attract more support for me and Warren Barguil," Dumoulin said in the radio program De Nieuws BV. "Of course we will continue to focus on the sprint, but we will no longer be purely aimed on it. We also want to take steps for the classification."
