A few weeks after winning La Polynormande, Oliver Naesen (Topsport Vlaanderen) again confirmed that he is one of the most exciting Belgian neo-pros when he finished second behind Robin Stenuit in the 1.1 Schaal Sels.
"This is still a good result," he told Directvelo. "Racing circumstances were clearly to my disadvantage today. When the first group went clear, I was not directly there. I had already lost strength. Then I had to give a wheel to Edward Theuns.
"In the final, I knew it would be hard to beat Robin Stenuit. I tried to be on his wheel. I did not make any mistakes. He was just too strong for me. It was a hectic race, once a year is enough. The mechanical shock [from the dirt roads] was really hard today."
