Rodolfo Torres and Alex Cano will be leading Team Colombia-Coldeportes at the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon, from April 17 to 19. The Spanish stage race, now in its 30th edition, will feature three stages, whose third – Zamora - Lubian (179,2 km), with an uphill finish – will arguably decide the overall winner.
The Escarabajos, directed on the occasion by Oscar Pellicioli and Oliverio Rincon, will be looking, as usual, to show up on the mountains: in addition to Rodolfo Torres – just back from two weeks training in Colombia – and Alex Cano, Team Colombia-Coldeportes will also rely on Walter Pedraza, Miguel Angel Rubiano (who, like Torres, just travelled back from Colombia), Edwin Avila, Juan Pablo Valencia and Camilo Castiblanco.
“We are confident to be able to play a major role in all the three stages," Sports Director Oscar Pellicioli explained. “The first two stages feature plenty of up-and-downs, but are not extremely hard. I expect Movistar to control the race, but we have several options to make things interesting. On the final day, we will go for it with Rodolfo and Alex, and Walter Pedraza as quality support. Rodolfo, like Rubiano, is just back from Colombia: aside from the opportunity of training in altitude, for an athlete spending some days with his beloved ones is always extremely important, and that will represent an additional boost to pursue valuable results".
